Night Rain
It poured ardently and
made the roads over
They are squeaky neat as
potholes
Formerly range rovered by the powerful
now wear
The gleaming miracles of
lakes jeweled with settling waters!
Meanwhile on the highways
Erstwhile gashes that once
gaped
hungrily at the heavens
Together with the impact craters
(our makeshift grabens)
That snarled even the bouncy Jaguars
of the haves
Now would pass for brimming
gorges
‘nativer’ and calmer than the
watery graves
Of the tetchy Tethys.
